(editor’s note: sorry we took so long to post a review of Lambretta Jamboree 2011, but the author was asked to write an article about the Rally for Lambretta Club USA’s magazine, “The Specialist”.  We didn’t want to steal any of LCUSA’s thunder by posting the article before the magazine was distributed.  Now that it’s out, here, with the permission of LCUSA is the review of the excellent Jamboree; enjoy!)

Best. Rally. Ever.

Those are not words thrown around lightly, but words that have been heard a lot in the wake of Lambretta Club USA’s Lambretta Jamboree 2011, held in Portland, Oregon, during the weekend of July 7-10.  For four glorious days, the Rose City was host to the greatest concentration of Innocenti scooters in many years.   The neighborhoods of Portlandia reverberated with the staccato ’brat-tat-tat’ of Lambretta motors and the scent of two-stroke perfumed the air.  And this was also my first Jamboree. LammyJammy2011 Is Here!

After much waiting, planning, wrenching, and anticipation, Lambretta Jamboree 2011 is finally nigh!  Nowhere near as large as Amerivespa (remember, Innocenti stopped making Lambrettas in 1972, while production in Spain and India soldiered on until 1989, and 1997 respectively), what Lambretta owners lack in numbers they make up for in passion.
