Well, we finally got out of winter, and with the spring it’s time to start cranking up another glorious Rally Season!  Just like spring flowers, news of great upcoming rally events for 2013 are busting out all over!  Please save a spot on your riding calendar for Tour di Mari 6, which will be happening July 19-21, 2013.  As Rod Filbrant’s excellent poster implies, we’re rocking a retro ‘space age’ theme this year, and there will be rides, music, food and fun aplenty (what did you expect? It’s a Westenders rally, after all!).

Hibernation’s over! Time for scooting!

Finally, spring is here!  Sorry about the long hibernation, but both the Seattle scooter scene and your Westenders are alive and well!  Here’s some stuff coming up:

• Tomorrow night (3/21) Westender Happy Hour will happen at Eastlake Bar & Grill!  The fun starts at 7pm, and everybody’s welcome.  See you there!
• Saturday (3/23) Seattle’s Soldiers of Destiny SC is hosting their first annual Oyster Scoot!  Ride to various points around the city to enjoy the Northwest’s freshest shellfish and brews!  Visit their FB page for more information.
• We have a ride to the tulip fields coming next month, and a ‘Kentucky Derby’ – themed ride to Emerald Downs in May.  Keep and eye on this website, or ‘like’ or Facebook page to keep up with the details.

Are you in town this weekend, but looking for a fun way to forget about the heat? Join us for the 7th annual R2DQ, hosted by the Stanaways!!

When: Sunday Aug. 19th

Where: Meet at Tom and Patsy Stanaway’s house (Rudy and Mrs. Rat) 1216 SW 149th, Burien, WA

Time: 9:30am for coffee and muffins and chit chat

Depart time: 10:30am

Ride: Will go around Three Tree Point, through Des Moines to Redondo, Brown’s Point, and stop at the Twin Lakes Dairy Queen for a free ice cream treat! Then ride back to Burien for a BBQ at the Stanaway’s. Hot dogs, DQ chili dogs, salads and beverages.

There will also be some cool gifts and prizes!!

Each year, the Westenders Scooter Club’s annual Tour di Mari rally has grown bigger and better.  We all knew that with a restored Vespa to give away, this year’s rally would be big.  Little did we know just how big it would be! (more…)

Happy day as Mother Goose is surprised and delighted to win the raffle scooter! (video: Click)

Tour di Mari 5 is clearly the biggest and best Tour di Mari rally ever!  At the Saturday BBQ, we served over 110 people, and raffled off a ton of wonderful merchandise donated by our sponsors!  Here, you can see the restored 1974 Vespa Super being won by our very own Mother Goose!

But wait, there’s more!  Today is Click’s Photographers’ Ride!  We depart C&P Coffee at 11am for a tour of noted professional photographer Click’s favorite vistas, and well end up in White Center for Zippy’s Burgers first annual Burger Eating Contest!
