Now in it’s 3rd year, the “Trouble in T-Town” Rally, put on by the F**k Yeah Scooter Club is just getting better and better all the time. Westenders (Red, Randito, HyViz) headed south to represent, and here is a recap of the fun they had! Before we begin our tale, to understand TITT, it helps to know a little bit about the Tacoma scootering ‘scene’. The Tacoma scene has largely been created by two excellent Clubs, the FYSC and the Firkins SC. The Firkins, as you know, host the delightful “T-Town Flotilla” camping rally, and the FYSC’s “Trouble in T-Town” rally does a great job getting folks to come out riding in November (!), thanks to the rambunctious fun they always deliver! TiTT attracts riders from quite a ways away; one came all the way from Bellingham! Everyone met up at the Swiss Pub, where they enjoyed pre-ride grub and bevvies, and had a chance to pick up a commemerative patch.

TITT3 patches. Half the fun of rally-going is collecting the patches that show off the creativity of the hosting Club, and the FYSC never dissappoints! (photo: FYSC)
It was now time for the ride! The TITT3 ride took participants past a number of scenic Tacoma sites, from Ruston to Steilacoom and University Place and seemingly all points in between! and featured the (Nearly) Naked Ride. In November? F-Yeah!!! The Swarm gathered at the Goldfish Tavern, at the entrance to Point Defiance Park, and a fearless group commenced to prepare for “Operation: Bare Your Briefs”, as Westender Red put it. Soon scooterists in varying levels of (un)dress were zipping through Tacoma’s famous Point Defiance Park’s Five Mile Drive. Needless to say, they got a LOT of curious looks.
Not long after this, the group descended on a parking lot adjacent to the New Frontier tavern. for the gymkhana. It was a ‘time trial’ gymkhana, which featured such attractions as a ‘booby board’ (you had to be there; it was fantastic!), and a jumping ramp complete with a Pit of Fire! Westender Randito had a go at it, and particularly impressive performances were turned in by Bradley E of the FYSC, and Jason from Bellingham, who risked life, limb, and his wonderful vintage Lambretta in the flames! While you probably shouldn’t try this at home, be assured that no scooterists were harmed in the performance of these stunts.
Needless to say, a great time was enjoyed by all! Congratulations to our friends over at the FYSC for an enjoyable rally! Helmets off to you and the Firkins SC for making the City of Destiny a real scooterists kind of town!
