By any standard, 2009 may have been a rough year for the world, but it was a pretty good year for the Westenders! We enjoyed a year of fun riding events, some of our members scored some cool new rides, and no one got injured (much). That's a lot of reasons to celebrate, so how better to do it than to have our first annual Holiday party?
The swarm gathered over at Jean F.'s lovely home in Madison Park for an evening of fun and merriment. A charming brick bungalow in a classic Seattle neighborhood, Jean's home was decorated to the nines for the nights festivities. All the Westies brought favorite dishes for the potluck dinner, including such treats as Nicky's delicious yam & bean casserole, and GrumpyGus' fantastic buffalo chicken wings, which featured a homemade sauce that expertly combined the sweet and the heat!

Meanwhile, at the bar Randy H. was busy at work creating the most incredible assortment of holiday martinis and cocktails to ever grace a sideboard! His encyclopedic knowledge of beverages was clearly evident as he amazed and delighted the Swarm with a seemingly endless cavalcade of brightly colored and exotic tasting cocktails!
Sufficiently fed and watered, the Swarm then adjourned to the living room for a rollicking gift exchange governed by 'Dirty Santa' rules. The gifts ran the full gamut from the wonderful to the truly bizarre, as guests went home with everything from a new cell phone and vino to such oddities as a buffalo hat and a framed picture of the prime minister (???)!
All in all, it was a truly magical evening enjoyed by all! Many thanks again to Jean for being a truly lovely hostess, and to everyone who helped make the night special!
