One of the highlights of the Seattle scootering year has to be without a doubt the R2DQ (Ride 2 Dairy Queen) ride, and this years fourth iteration was no exception!
The swarm gathered at Rudy the Rat & Mrs. Rat's home in Burien (aka the 'Mouse House') and enjoyed coffee, juice and muffins to fortify themselves for the ride ahead. At the appointed time, Rudy the Rat led the swarm (over two dozen strong!) on the R2DQ ride. This ride is a well-planned crowd pleaser that features delightful twisty roads and wonderful marine views, and not a lot of intersections that needed to be marshalled.
The Swarm arrived at the Dairy Queen in Tacoma owned by Dan & Cyndi, and were treated to a wonderful selection of DQ ice cream treats. Everyone was careful not to spoil their appetites, as an excellent BBQ awaited us back at the Mouse House! The BBQ was a real treat, and the hungry swarm feasted on DQ chili dogs and a host of other tasty dishes. A ring toss game followed (with a scooter inner tube serving as the ring!), and the skillful were rewarded with nifty prizes!
R2DQ4 was a perfect event in every way: a safe ride, great food, good company, and fine weather to boot! Thank you, congratulations, and a hearty Westenders 'well done' to Rudy the Rat, Mrs. Rat, Dan, Cindy, and everyone who made this day such a wonderful success!
