Every second Thursday is Artwalk Thursday in West Seattle. Local business stay open late and showcase the work of talented local artists. Tonight's artwalk was extra-special, because it featured the work of Westenders Jett and Rudy the Rat!
The Swarm gathered at Hairy LaPinch's on a rainy Thursday evening to admire all the great art and enjoy each other's company. It is no secret that artistic and talented people are drawn to scooters, and the Westenders has a very high percentage of such people in it's ranks. Styling Studio seemed like Andy Warhol's salon Thursday night, as painters, sculptors, musicians, poets, and actors sipped wine and mingled the night away.
Joni James (aka Jett) showed off her lasted collection of works, featuring a series of painted musical instruments and mixed media pieces focusing on wine. Tom Stanaway (aka Rudy the Rat) displayed his unique collection of sculptures that used a collection of 'found objects', etc, to create whimsical pieces that celebrated friends and offered commentary on our times.
According to Hairy LaPinch, this was his best attended Artwalk Thursday to date. As Styling Studio's reputation as the place to be for movers and shakers on the West Seattle art scene grows, these happy gatherings will only get larger and better, and draw more arts patrons to the venues participating in Artwalk Thursday on North Admiral!
