Since it's founding in 2006 by a group of four West Seattle scooterists, the Westenders Scooter Club has grown into one of Seattle's largest and most active scooter clubs. We decided that 2008 would be the year we would host our first rally, and the result was the Westenders Tour di Mari #1, and a fantastic time was had by all!

Last Sunday on their way home from R2DQ-3, Doc and Tiny had a mis-hap riding over the First Avenue South Bridge.

This evening, our Prime Minister presented both Doc and Tiny the ...

"Not for Chickens" Performance Award ...

"For her July 24, 2008 scooter acrobatics on the First Avenue South Bridge, far exceeding Westenders' standards with an over-the-top perfomance and a rock solid landing."

While no life or limb injuries were sustained, Doc will forever-more be known as "Waffle Butt" for the lasting imprint of the bridge grate you know where. Tiny, according to Doc, has temporarily joined the ranks of the "Purple People". Both scooters suffered damage, though with time and care will be rideable in the future.

Special note should be mentioned that the Rat family rescued our two acrobats, bringing their truck as well as a first aid kit when filling in for AAA providing roadside assistance. Good job, Tom and Patsy!

Saddle up! Westenders and friends about to depart for the R2DQ3 ride

One of the highlights of the scooting season in Seattle is without a doubt the
R2DQ (Ride to Dairy Queen), and this year's third incarnation of the ride (hence
R2DQ3) was without a doubt the best yet!

The Peoples' Choice: GrumpyGus with the trophy for his award-winning chili!

Another busy weekend for the Westenders! August has certainly been the big
scootering month, hasn't it?

As if you needed more reasons to come to the Westenders Tour di Mari Rally #1! If great people, great rides, and a salmon bake aren't enough for you, how about this: SWAG!!! We've collected a bunch of great stuff to give away at our raffle, but remember, kids; you can't win if you don't come out!

This last weekend was a real potpourri for the Westenders! It was jam-packed with events including a parade, a statue unveiling, and a chili cookoff!

Bodhi, Hairy LaPinch, Safety Ed, Victoria, and RogerTango 'throw' their new 'gang sign': we be bad!

The neat thing about the Westenders is that is doesn't take much of an excuse to make a ride, just take some great people, mix with good weather, a liberal dash of scooters and an idea and away you go!

The Westender's first rally, Tour di Mari #1, is almost here! It will take place Friday through Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. Attendees will enjoy fun meetups, a couple of great rides, a fantastic BBQ, cool raffle prizes and more! Click here for the Rally details, and check back for updates.

Recently, a bunch of the Westenders went on the latest incarnation of the STAB
(Seattle - Tacoma And Back) ride. STAB was the brainchild of Byron, a member of
VCOS and the Catholic Schoolboys Scooter Troop. These have always been
excellent rides, and a highlight of the local riding calendar.
