Cold weather is supposed to be good for tulips. The cold helps preserve them, tulips having a rather short shelf life. Unfortunately, while it's good for the tulips, cold weather is not at all good for a long-distance scooter ride.
The turnout was excellent under the circumstances. Making the scene were yours truly, our Prime Minister RogerTango, Doc and Tiny (she on her new pink Primavera), Chewy, Click, Katt, Vu (riding Stella_3) and Amy, Alex from Scooter Gallery, and Bridget, who heard about the ride via the VCOS Rides e-mail list.
With the mission scrubbed, we took our time drinking coffee and discussing possible places to have breakfast. We agreed on the Capitol Hill IHOP; I was appointed to lead the group there.
RT told the IHOP our group would arrive in 45 minutes. We got there in 43 minutes. It's a gift, what can I say? We went through the Arboretum, making sure to duck at the bridge so we wouldn't suffer the fate of the Garfield High School softball team.
Breakfast was yummy, in a sugary, starchy, greasy way. We then adjourned, headed for other Sunday activities. The Tulip Festival organizers announced the event would be extended through the first weekend in May. We may try riding up there again. Stay tuned...
