Always a great place to get your scooter serviced, our friends (and generous Tour di Mari 3 supporter) at Big People Scooters is now an even better place to go if you need tires! We've just received word that Big People Scooters is having a tire sale! Get 10% off on tires alone, bigger discounts when you have them install the tires. They even offer a special deal on installation as well! Remember your ride is no better than the rubber between you and the road, so if those nasty ol' wear bars are showing, now's the time to give your scoot new boots! Call or visit Big People Scooters at their new First Avenue location to learn more and make an appointment! Note: limited to stock on hand; no special orders, please.
As one gets more into the hobby of scooters and scootering, the inclination to dabble in vintage scoots can become very strong. Westenders prime minister RogerTango has taken the plunge, and now there's a new Lambretta in the Westenders lineup: meet Gina the Lambretta!
This Sunday Westender Click is leading a fun long cruising ride around Mount Rainier, and everyone's invited! Here's Click with the information:
"I'm planning a late summer loop ride around Mount Rainier. The date suggested is Sunday, August 29th.
This will be a long ride of about 240 miles, but will be broken up with a few stops. There will be a National Park entrance fee for access to the park.
Below is a route map ... to see the complete route be sure to go to the second page in Google Maps

150 cc or better suggested ... definitely not appropriate for any 50cc scooters.
OK ... at this point our Sunday forecast is looking very nice. So ... let's meet at C&P Coffee about 8:30 with a start time of 9 AM. Sunday, August 29th.
Please arrive with full gas tanks. We'll have a lunch stop in Ashford at Alexander's Restaurant. http://www.alexanderscountryinn.com/restaurant.html
I'm looking forward to some berry pie :D Next planned stop will be at Paradise, though I suspect we'll pause at other scenic areas as well. We'll continue past Reflection Lakes, then through Steven's Canyon and if time permits make a quick sprint up to Lake Tipsoo. Then toward Enumclaw and Seattle.
Hope you can join me!

The fifth iteration of R2DQ (Ride to Dairy Queen) is now history, and everyone agrees that it was quite probably the very best yet of a series of great ride events! Despite threats of rain (which very considerately confined it's activity to north of the Ship Canal), attendees enjoyed good weather, a wonderful ride, and a swell BBQ with games and prizes as well!
Just a reminder that R2DQ5 is this Sunday! A great time will be enjoyed by all, but PLEASE be sure to RSVP at RSVP (206) 248-1890 or e-mail at p.stanaway@msn.com (full details can be found here). See you this Sunday!
UPDATE (8/22): This just in from the Rat Family: "The weather update for this Sunday says "cloudy with chance of showers". So we say it's a GO! Ride leaves at 10:30 - BBQ aproximately 1:30. Hope to see you there.
